Chapel Choir FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

When does the Chapel Choir rehearse and perform?
We rehearse on Sundays (11.30am-5.30pm for Full Time members, and usually 3pm-5.30pm for for Associate members). We sing for either a service or a concert each Tuesday evening at 6pm, preceded by a short rehearsal at 5.25pm.

What is the difference between Full Time and Associate members?
Most members of the choir are Full Time members, but we have around 10 associate members who join us for concerts, and some services. Associate members are not eligible for Choral Scholarships.

What sort of scholarships are available?
See our scholarships page for full details!

Do I need to be able to read music to join the Chapel Choir?
Due to the quick turn over of music, you do need to be able to read music. There are other choirs on campus where this isn’t the case – see choirsoncampus2022 for more information!

I’m a student based at another institution – can I audition for the Chapel Choir?
Absolutely! We currently have students from Strathclyde, the RCS and the Art School singing with us both as Full Time singers and Associates. (Please note that external students are NOT eligable to be scholars.)
